R.A.N. - Rai Roma Animali Ambiente Natura è stata fondata da impiegati e giornalisti Rai nell’ottobre 2005 per :
- assistere i circa 180 gatti presenti nelle varie sedi Rai di Roma nel pieno rispetto delle leggi vigenti re. diritti/tutela animali e delle norme di sicurezza ed igiene in vigore dentro l’Azienda Rai
- diffondere maggiore conoscenza delle leggi in materia di diritti degli animali e tutela degli stessi fra la gente comune (per cambiare la mentalità delle persone!),
-soccorrere animali (che siano animali d’affezione che specie selvatiche) feriti e/o abbandonati nelle vicinanze delle sedi Rai,
-aiutare famiglie indigenti nella cura dei loro compagni non umani (cure mediche/sterilizzazioni).
* Abbiamo voluto lanciare le nostre attività a favore dei gatti Rai per dimostrare come i diritti dei gatti che vivono in libertà (di cui “il patrimonio culturale” nella Città Eterna è riconosciuto dal Comune), stabiliti dalla L.281/91, possono e devono essere salvaguardati.
Abbiamo chiesto il censimento di suddetti gatti, cosa mai fatto in passato, alle ASL Roma competenti che hanno poi affidato i gatti delle colonie feline Rai a noi – come previsto dalla L.281/91.
R.A.N. ha ottenuto il riconoscimento della Regione Lazio come associazione di volontariato animalista ambientale d’utilità sociale con Determinazione n. D0363 il 13/02/2006.
Spendiamo circa €900,00 al mese per l’assistenza ai suddetti gatti (cibo, cure mediche, sterilizzazioni).
L’adesione a R.A.N. onlus è aperta a tutti, dipendenti Rai e non (tranne che alle persone con licenza di caccia). I moduli d’adesione sono disponibili a richiesta scrivendo a info@ranonlus.org.

Who we are:
R.A.N. – Rai Roma Animali Ambiente Natura was founded in October 2005 by RAI (the national broadcaster of Italy) employees and journalists to:
- care for the some 180 feral cats present in the various production centers of Italy’s national broadcaster Rai in the Eternal City, *
-promote more awareness of animal rights/animal welfare in the nation (we need to change the mentality of people, who do not necessarily have to “love” animals but need to respect them!),
- rescue animals (pets and/or wild species) injured or abandoned in the vicinity of Rai centers,
- promote and pay for TSR (trap/spay-neuter/release) programs for feral cat colonies in the Lazio region and for spaying/neutering surgeries (dogs and cats) for indigent families.
* We launched our care giving activities for the feral cats of Rai in an effort to set an example of how the rights of cats of feral colonies (whose “historic heritage” in the Eternal City is recognized by the Rome Town Hall), established by the national law 281 of 1991, can and should be safeguarded.
We requested a census of the Rai cats (for the very first time in the company) as foreseen by law to the competent veterinary health services (ASL Roma), who consequently entrusted the feral colonies to us – as provided for by the national law 281 of 1991.
R.A.N. obtained the formal recognition of the Lazio Region as a non profit volunteer animal welfare and environmental protection association in February 2006 (“Determinazione” n. D0363 of February 13, 2006) – “onlus” is the Italian acronym granted to all organizations with non profit status.
